Creative Intention Setting Session

Creative Intention Setting Session

Join us for a CISS session inspired by our experiential installation for Upstate Art Weekend titled Surface Contact: Amuse Bouché where we explored what is happening at the exact moment of touch - micro textures, the weave of cotton twill, the crags of pores on skin, and sound vibrating on water… played with light as it is expressed in degrees of opacity, translucency, refraction, reflection, and penetration…flirted with viscosity, stickiness, slickness, smoothness, and abrasion…and listened to slaps, scrapes, shuffles, and taps.

Dive deep with us into the nooks and crannies of all of our distinctly personal and subjective relationships to art.

Ponder questions such as:

  • What is intimacy?

  • How is intimacy embodied in art?

  • Do we consider or attempt to convey intimacy when we create?

  • How and why do works of art convey intimacy to us?
….and bring your own thoughts and questions to share!

Supporting Material:

Please bring a jpg or link to an image of an art that activates the concept of intimacy for you.

*Note: We are eager to dive deep and do so in a manner that is inclusive and curious. As intimacy can mean many different things to many different people, please thoughtfully consider how your image may impact others and communicate trigger warnings prior to sharing if necessary.
Not required, but offered as recommendations for further exploration:
