Upstate Art Weekend

METATEM(PLE)

a honeycomb, temple-like structure, each chamber exploring a different sense through intentional reality-making using experiential art, designed for contemplation and active noticing. Heady shit.

The structure and all of its contents were conceived and produced jointly, by the Hinterland Co-op! The first collab of its kind!

A curated playlist spanning multiple eras, genres and cultures, Does This Track invites the listener to shuffle through time and space, intentionally, actively experiencing what arises from memory, association, and the auditory arrangement itself. Feel it. Notice it. Note it. Shuffle again.

Sight: “Rose Colored Glasses”/

solid walnut with natural finish, solid unlacquered brass, glass inserts

Alison Zavracky Design Studio

Sight is the first sense I remember as a small child: I remember light filtering through fleshy dancing fingers. As I took in the shapes and shadows, I began to understand that I was controlling this movement! It was my earliest realization of self. As I grew older, a favorite activity became laying in the grass and watching the clouds drift by. My imagination would run wild with those fluffy white amorphous "creatures." Look up. Look around. What do you see?

Installation Contribution: Brenna Chase, custom cut stained glass

6th Sense: “PERCEPTUARY”/

stained glass, lead came, copper foil, wood frame, LED lights

Brenna Chase / Willow Deep Studio

A magical stained glass panel transports you to an inner sanctum to calm the mind and ground the spirit. An ancient cathedral and an electrical lightscape meet as time folds in on itself. Look deep into the portal and be reminded that our cognition can play tricks on us, space is not limited by physicality, and things are not always what they seem.
